Father’s Day is coming up and you may be wondering what to get the old man. I know I have this problem every single year. I have a step-dad as well as a biological dad and so I get double trouble. One of them loves to read and drink coffee, the other loves movies. But after many years of buying movies, books, as well as Starbucks and Barnes & Nobles gift cards it’s time for a change. Here are a few things you might consider getting your Dad this year.
- A Jelly Bean Tin. My step dad loves jelly beans and when I discovered this, I thought “awesome!” Customize your own tin for dad in three different tin sizes that will ft in his pocket. Choose from a number of different colors, patterns, and texts to create a tin cover that you think Dad will love. Find them on JellyBelly.com
- Give Dad Beer Soap! Oatmeal Stout Beer Soap by Beautiful Soaps offers bars made with ground oats, honey, vanilla essential oil, and Goose Island Oatmeal Stout. Sold at Etsy.com, they can be used on hair skin for a clean, moisturized feeling.
- And speaking of beer, why not grab a tin ice bucket and fill it with all different types of Dad’s favorite brew. But put more in it than just that: add nuts, snack mixes, pretzels or other tasty treats he loves.
- Personalize a photo of you and him. Either purchase a frame you can write or draw on or check out Waste Not Recycled Art. They can create blocks with your own personal pictures on them as well as spell out any word that requires 5 letters or a combination of letters and symbols. They can be made in black, white, or red; and the images can be color, muted color, sepia toned, or black and white.
- Have a golfing dad? Sometimes he may want a cool (or hot) drink while on the course. So, pick him up an Electronic Drink Caddie from Sharper Image. It looks like a regulation driver, but it has a secret one-button dispensing pump. Designed to sit unobtrusively in a side pocket so it doesn’t take up space inside. Fill with hot or cold beverages, and they’ll stay at the right temperature for hours! He’ll love it.
- Your son will love to match Dad on his special day, so why not get them matching cotton t-shirts from American Apparel. These shirts are light blue with an orange stripped tie applique stitched on it. You can even find it in a onesie for new Dad and baby.
- If Dad needs a new pair of shoes, go to nikeid.com and customize a pair for him! My husband did this (for himself) and they look awesome. You can pick any color combinations as well as write anything you’d like on the heel tags. Maybe put “Best Father” or his name…. the possibilities are endless!
- Or just bake him a batch of his favorite cookies. Make a plate of all different varieties and decorate them with the kids.
