If you love having a little pet as much as I do, then take this weekend to go adopt one that needs a home.  I have a dog named Bolt and he is little white Boston Jack (Jack Russell and Boston Terrier Mix) with one brown ear.  He’s the cutest thing and I can’t imagine not having him around now.  My husband and I adopted him on Superbowl Sunday of this year, and he’s been our “little white beast” ever since.  So needless to say, I am a huge adoption advocate.  So many animals are put to sleep if they are not adopted, so it really is best (and usually cheaper) to go this route.

There are many places to adopt a pet.  You can go to your local pound or animal shelter, humane society and in the case of this weekend PETCO.  All the Petco’s around the country will be having a large Pet adoption program n Friday and Saturday, but it’s best to check your local store for their details. Here is a quote from their website: “PETCO partners with local shelters and rescues to hold adoption events at our stores to help find loving homes for thousands of adoptable pets each month. You can find a local pet adoption event at a PETCO store on many weekends, especially our National Adoption Weekends each month.”  Just so you all know that they do not sell dogs from Puppy Mills!  Thank goodness.

Again folks, adoption is the best way to go.  Getting dogs from reputable breeders is fine, but my take on it is that there are so many animals out there who desperately need a home and unfortunately the shelter they are living in is not as comfortable as a breeders may be.  But really, the breeders animals will eventually have a home.  These little guys and gals in the shelter, may not.  Unless you help them…..
