Now that it’s August, it’s time to start thinking about going back to school and getting those last minute summer things done.  Just to make sure you accomplish everything you wanted to this summer, here is a list of what you may want to take care of before the summer is completely out.  And also a few things you can do for fun while you still have the time!

  • Take lots of photos of you & your friends enjoying the weather
  • Then make a scrapbook of your time with them as well as any summer trips you took (trust me, do it now or you’ll never do it!)
  • Lie in bed in the morning, with the windows open & good music playing.  The sun will shine through during the summer and give a nice warm breeze.
  • Eat a summer fruit before it’s out of season like mangos, watermelon, peaches, nectarines, plums, raspberries, cherries and strawberries.  It’s not to say they can’t be found outside of summer, but they will be expensive.
  • Have a picnic in a tree
  • Take a dog for a walk (if you don’t have one, borrow someone else’s!)
  • Explore a new area — even if it’s just another neighborhood
  • Choose a project to start working on over winter
  • Plan a party with all the friends and family you won’t have time to see once school starts
  • Go to the beach & build a sand-castle
  • Start a journal and fill it with all of your summer adventures
  • Have a slumber party with a friend & go out for breakfast in the morning
  • Learn some words in another language
  • Go for a bike ride along the beach
  • Get a massage and deluxe spa pedicure to relax you before the fall and winter begin
  • Visit the tourist attractions in your own city
  • If you’re working, use some vacation days for a long weekend and spend the time at a summery location
  • Try every different bottled iced tea at your local shop
  • Lie around in the grass with your sunglasses & a pair of headphones on – soak up the last bit of summer sun!
  • If you work and won’t be starting any school in the fall, sign up for a few fun classes to keep your stress levels down: flower-arranging class, an outdoor yoga class, an art class, a photography class etc.  Just think of something that will help you take your mind off life’s stresses.
